Metal scope ring forming jig for the main body WIP. Still need to do locating pins so I can easily place the blanks in the correct position prior to forming.
Ok so a number of hours & three hand blisters later that's about 300 odd side plates bent to shape on my jig.
First four ring bodies bent to shape, still working out the best method of doing the various bends and needs a thread tapping for one of the screws but it looks like these are a goer.
Given that this is aluminium not steel, you'll have to be careful not to overtighten the scope tube clamp screw (not the sideplate one which uses a nut) so you don't strip the thread.
I'd say these will be about 90% accurate to the originals, partially because they're being done by hand rather than a machine.
SAS, these are a major step forward in the details of your already impressive kits. I'm sure your hard work and attention to detail will be well rewarded; they're clearly exceptionally close to the real thing and a significant improvement on resin. The best just got better. Great job.
