General Mid-Budget ESB built

Step by step I´m installing the servo into my helmet...

First I had to make the hole in the right ear a little bit bigger to fit the base of the servo horn AND the servo.

Now the servo horn base fits...
P1312720.JPG

...also does the servo.

Next will be mounting the servo and the rest of "Salamanderking´s" electronics to the inside of the helmet.

I glued the first two screws, which will hold the servo in place, on the inside of my helmet using gel superglue.

To be continued...

Saturday-Update... ;)

Did a test-run of "Salamanderking´s" rc rangefinder servo installed into my helmet. More to come soon...

Here´s a little video:

I have to re-work the helmet interior to fit in the electronics... "Salamanderking´s" RC RF servo unit, two radial-fans.... AND my head. ;)
P2112785.JPG

I mounted the servo-electronics first. The cables, batteries and battery-holder are just mounted for the moment. Next will be to fit in the radial-fans plus batteries and switch.

That's some thorough work. Keep up the great work!

Thank you very much!

Yesterday I installed the radial-fans.

Using hardfoamboard to construct a platform for the fans to fit the curved surface inside the helmet.
P2142789.JPG

Glued the fans onto the platforms.
P2152792.JPG

Fan number 1 blows cool air in the direction of the visor. So the visor doesn´t fog up and my face is cooled.
P2152795.JPG

Number 2 blows cool air to the upper backside of the helmet to avoid heat accumulation.
P2162800.JPG

Taking care of all the cables... shortened some of them and soldered them new. Both fans are operated by a single 12V battery. Also installed an ON-OFF-switch.
P2172801.JPG

Now the complete electronics are installed and my head still fits in there... ;)
P2172803.JPG

Maybe I´ll add some interior to hide all the cables...but for the moment this is done. :)

Hi! Yes this tiny A23 battery is running both fans. ;) All these things you can find on Ebay. Keywords: A23 battery (Batterie) / A 23 battery holder (Batteriehalter) / radial-fan (Radiallüfter).

Hope this helps.

Now I finished my hollow Rangefinder made by Bobamaker by installing Salamanderking´s self-contained lights.

Here you can see the light set on the left, right top the BM hollow RF and right bottom one the BM deluxe RF (which I used till now).
P2032736.JPG

First I constructed a closure system by using a laying around metal piece, which I glued to the cover and a N52 rare earth magnet which I glued into the main-body.
P2032737.JPGP2032738.JPG

Now I sprayed the RF silver/chrome and after that I put on some Humbrol masking-fluid for the weathering using this helpful reference.
P2042740.JPG

With masking tape I covered all the silver areas before using matt-black spray-paint.
P2042741.JPG

After the matt-black paint has dryed, I sprayed on a semi-matt clearcoat.

Now I can install the electronics.

Here´s a short video of the function:

Here´s a short vidoe of the radiocontrolled Rangefinder including the selfcontained RF lights made by Salamanderking. Fantastic! I´m so happy!!!

Using softfoam and faux-leather to hide the electronics and cables. Also made a little "tunnel" to channel the air from the lower fan to the upper backside.

It´s "Karneval" in Germany at the moment. So I used this for a costume-test wearing it for about 4 hours. Didn´t wear the jetpack and the EE-3 (blaster only for the first moments of taking pictures in our garden). Some things I´ll have to repair and adjust, espacially loosing some weight (updates will follow). ;)

A short video of the costume-test (later we recognized the microphone of my loudspeaker-system was hanging out of the helmet ;):
