Elstree Precision Co Ltd Hero Metal Ears Project

KaanE, I think I noticed that too, but I thought it was due to the angle the image was shot. Here's the Pre-Pro #3 left ear that shows the same difference:

It is interesting that the right lower ear shows the same difference in some shots. ESB helmet:

And the Pre-Pro #3:

To me it looks almost the same angle difference on both sides:

Then, from my point of view it should be the other way around. If it was the same angle, the higher half should be seen straighter instead of the lower, because of the angle of vision. I mean, the closer to the camera center, the straighter the angle should be, and what happens is exactly the opposite. Do I explain? It's really hard to explain myself through another language o_O

Time for another progress update. John has been focusing on the left ear today. This is where he is at!

For the first time in 40 years, a pair of Elstree Precision Co Ltd metal ears have been mounted on a lineage Boba Fett helmet...

The bottom of the helmet still needs a little final skirt trimming.

More to come soon! Like always, feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks,

Well our TDH brother, Andy was able to drive down to see John at Elstree today! The two of them spent a couple hours looking over the ears and taking measurements. I’ve let Andy know I am more than happy for him to share any and all the details directly with the forum members.

Everyone interested in this project should appreciate that we are incredibly fortunate for a walking Boba Fett encyclopedia like Andy to live within an hour or so of Elstree Precision *and* be willing to make the drive and spend time looking over the project. Again Andy, thank you so much!

Here are some photo updates showing the prototype right lower ear mounted. Obviously, the 3 blind detail holes still need to be added.

More to come soon!

Another fun bit of trivia... What type of hardware was used in the original Boba Fett helmets and is also going to be used on the Elstree ears?

a) Metric
b) British Association
c) American Standard
d) British Standard Whitworth
