My first exposure to TDH was around 2005 when I started making a custom ROTJ Boba Fett figure. The base was the Hasbro Vintage style 12" Boba Fett from The Empire Strikes Back. I used pieces from the 12" Jango Fett, namely the headsculpt, helmet and jetpack. The reference images I found here were invaluable.
I was 17 when I started the custom. And it was my most ambitious project at that point. I made plenty of mistakes. I used enamel paint on the vinyl gauntlets, which I discovered leaves it sticky. Lots of clear red acrylic paint "fixed" the problem. And while it ultimately didn't matter, I painted to helmet to match the ESB/ROTJ SE prop.
The last time I reworked the figure was around 2010. By that time Sideshow had made dozens of 1/6 Star Wars figures. Not long after that Hot Toys made a 1/6 ROTJ Boba Fett. My custom is more of a novelty at this point. Sure does hold some fond memories.
Here are some pictures of the figure as it appears today, compared with the Hot Toys release. I'll try to find some old photos to show its progression.
