I know what you mean about the mandibles, the flash however has not changed them that much I used Humbrol 73 as suggested by TF. My last lid was ok but this one seems a little on the 'pink' side. Not sure weather to go over that area again but darken down the red a tad
I have used it before on my previous lid and it looked great (see bottom pic). This one, not so.
I have tried to get a more natural pic of the colour for you (taken without a flash). What do you think? I am not sure what i should mix with it to darken it up? btw it went on over the cold cast silver.
i just painted a test patch on a polished cold cast stalk and it was fine, no pinkie, i think you had a friday afternoon tinlet...
Looks like your helmets back on course...
The lid is looking great, cant wait to get started on mine when it arrives from BM.
Watching this process closely dude, may have to meet up so i can get some tips .

No probs Steve, you at the norwich evening next month?
and yep the first lid has been pulled and i am about the pop the 2nd out hopefully this weekend (its all glassed up and waiting for me to get a couple of hours spare)
Started laying some of the silver down, it looks really wierd without the greys and purple. A lot of the silver needs these others colours weathered over it.
Anyways see what you think
p.s. i still need to put more silver on the right hand mandible
p.p.s. this time its the flash that has made the wine colour seem pinkish
