Voice booster / microphone

hello all . i need to amplify my voice when i troop with the helmet, guys what do you use ? do you use a normal voice booster or do you use something different that make distortions too?

The most common amp is the Aker . I use it straight up without distortion. I'm just happy people can hear me after trooping for a while without anything. DeathProof played around with distortion, but I I don't recall the final results. i know where were some issues and technical challenges.
The Aker is relatively affordable (relative to the rest of Fett).

I used an app for my iPhone called Voice Synth. It takes some to get used to the control but you can customize your own voice quite nicely. Plus, it has a live talk function which actually changes your voice in real time - many other voice changers record your voice, then play it back. It's a good app, and cheap....but I found that in order to avoid feedback, I had to turn down the volume quite a bit which then resulted in people not hearing me correctly. I still might do some fine tuning, but I'm getting to the point where I've got so many electronics that it's taking me forever to get suited up.

The last few troops I have gone without and am fine without it. I keep the mic extremely close to my lips so I am able to create a raspy/whisper voice which works fine. This also allows me to keep my amp nice and loud. I use the aker 12W amp.

I have recently made my setup wireless. Originally it was wired and I had my aker cable go down my body into my side pouch. I felt that this directed my voice to the side from my hip. By going wireless, I've put my amp in my thigh pouch. This directs my voice forward. Going wireless requires a transmitter in your helmet and a receiver in your pocket.

How are you liking that wireless setup ?

Also, seems like it would be awkward having the amp in the front pouch. How is that working out?

When wearing Boba Fett I have my Aker in the right pouch but with my Jodo Kast there aren't any belt pouches so I cut out a slot in the left thigh of the pants in the pouch so I could run the wire for the mic under the flight suit. This hides everything & works pretty well with the amp directed forward. This does direct your voice more forward instead of appearing from your hip. Going to change my Boba Fett to be more like this. The only thing is just have to remember to put run the wiring for the mic before suiting up.

My voice is deep & raspy to begin with so I don't use any type of distortion, plus with the mic really close to my mouth it adds distortion. Generally people are surprised that you even talk.

It's actually quite awesome.

Since the weight of the amp is now out of the ammo belt, my ammo belt isn't slipping really. And having the amp in the front pouch isn't awkward at all. You just have to position it right so that it doesn't look like a speaker is showing through.

Would you like to see a video? I've got a troop for halloween - I can probably snap one then.

Yea sure , I loved your suiting up video. You should be dropping videos every week like a pop star on here lol

Do you have a link as to what wireless adapter you went with? I've got one but doesn't seem practical for inside the helmet.
