PP2 Fett project start-up

Added some finishing touches (topical details and clear coat) to the rear rim and keyslot. About time to move to front of this monster.

Long radio silence... But here are some update pics. I have taken a little different approach to some of the build threads and paint-ups I have read and followed.

I've started on the dome. Used the stencils to layout and arrange the damage schemes. I did some pre-misting to dark and splatter certain area's as shown in the ref pics. After that I CAREFULLY masked everything off using Humbrol masking fluid those photos incoming...

Damage is masked off. Time to start prepping to lay the field gray and OD on the dome and cheeks. For the cheeks I plan to topically apply the damage using the stencils as my guide.

UPDATE: I sprayed on the Dome/Cheek Field Gray as well as a misting of custom color mix of Med. Gray, Reefer Gray over the entire dome and cheeks. After letting things settle and dry. I added another spot misting of a custom mix; muted CNW Green, blended with my custom Gray mix. I spot sprayed this in specific area's of the helmet based on the reference photos I have.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I removed the masking and I'm pretty happy with the pre-misting color variances. Now for the application of all of that beautiful silver damage.

New UPDATES on the GMH PP2 paint-up... I've added some of the sliver damage and details. Here are some shots of the progress thus far. After viewing some of these photos, I am happy with how the cloudy look of the helmet from the reference photos I have was captured on this version. There is still much more to do. The entire right side of the helmet as well as the kill stripe

Final phase of the helmet paint-up... Here are pics of the cheek masking/section paint up as well as what is essentially the finished product. Unfortunately, I failed to capture any shots of my kill stripe paint process. But I used the stencils from Scott (Delucky) and they worked great. Again, this was my first attempt at trying to be meticulously accurate, but all feedback is welcome. Helmet work still remaining I have to /detail/assemble/install the RF, (I will likely work with Garrett on a PP2 topper and stock for a level 2 CRL) and weather the ear caps. Next up with be the armor and JP paint-ups.

Sorry for the radio silence. This was my first attempt at painting and assembling a MOW JP Kit. I have been hammering away this Jetpack. Here is where I am at with it currently. Pic heavy! I just rare earth magnets to attach the side thrusters and plan to do the same for the top missile as well. I still have some weathering to finish up and then attach my clips and hooks that I purchased recently.

For those items you might want a more secure option, becuae you will brush past something at a con and the thruster might fall off. Threaded rod and wing nuts or small eyelets with a bungee cord between the 2 thrusters is also a option. Rocket with threaded rod and wing nut, it only takes a few seconds to install and remove and keeps it in place well.
