Best Din Djarin helmets?

Akahige

New Hunter
I’m looking to buy a Mando helmet but I can’t tell who has the best mold/ paint job. I’ve seen several molds and paint jobs that look good enough to me but most of them don’t seem to be weathered.

I have an efx season one , and my bobamaker season 2 just arrived today , and its amazing !! the bobaamaker is superior in every way , nicely weathered as well

I think JSIN Props' helmet is pretty good for the price. He offers them weathered as well. I chose clean since I'd rather weather it myself if I need to.

I had the EFX in hand the very first wave and it was gunmetal. I really disliked how dark it looked in the sun. I sold the EFX helmet.

Here's a couple pictures of the clean with $60 highlights JSIN Props' helmet. For being a little less than $400 shipped I think it's a pretty good looking helmet. Some minor paint drip, dust, etc. but I don't think it's a big enough deal since they're all handmade.

I know S1V1 Din Djarin on the CRL is using one of his early versions... I don't remember if the S1V2 Din Djarin uses his helmet too. I think it does, but I can't remember since a Facebook post a long time ago listed the model's prop makers.

Sold my EFX and my Jsin buckets and opted for one from Nomad Props - no comparison imho. Liked it so much, I ordered another one :)
Is he still selling them? How much was it?

I don't see it on his Etsy anymore.

I really want JSIN Props ABS mando armor though. I don't think anyone else is doing it in ABS.

Nomad is on IG...I believe he's taking commissions for armor. All of my armor is from him. I've seen his process and I've seen Jsin's...I'm happy I went with Nomad. Much more sturdy and professional-grade. Same with the helmet. You can see the difference in the attention to detail...Jsin (IMHO) takes on so many commissions that his work tends to suffer - how can it not? Sean only takes on a few at a time - and it shows.

Interesting. I know HDC Fabrication made some good stuff for... I know he has another thread on here. Ralph? And he was approved by the 501st. His kit looks really good, but they stopped taking commissions within the last month or so.

Nomad's is resin printed and finished? Seems like it'd be heavier than ABS (for the armor at least).

Decisions, decisions.

Helmet makers I know there are a lot. Artisan FX also makes some. Never seen it in-hand but I assume it's good. I think Jon Stark still makes some too.

I own both an HDC and Nomad Props helmet, and I love them both. I slightly prefer my Nomad Props once, since shape-wise he altered the Great Ape files to be a bit closer to the EFX. It's also a bit smaller than most other helmets out there (a lot are definitely too large imho). But I would highly recommend Sean's (Nomad Props) new Great Ape modification.

Nomad's is a really nice one!

You say lots of helmets are oversized and it's true they look a little bit when on display. Yours looks pretty close to what is seen on the Mandalorian, which seems really small when compared to a Boba lineage helmet.

I have the Great Ape files but I do not know if they size is accurate or not. Would be possible to know the size of the eFX?

The Great Ape shape is gorgeous and the size can be customized by makers (since almost all of them are 3D printed).

I have a big noggin and my helmet (based on Great Ape) was printed at 95% scale. Makes a huge difference imho.

I think original costumes were made for someone 180 cm tall (Pascal's height, being the stunts 178 and 182 cm tall). I am 173 cm so I thought about printing it at 96%.

I think it will do the job.

Thank you!

You are very welcome.

I am 6'3", and the helmet at 100% definitely still feels too big for me. Mine ended up at 95% or so. So you may want to go slightly smaller than that.

As I am moulding and casting a fiberglass copy it will shrink around a 5% more because of the nature of the materials. That makes it around 91-92%% of the original GAS file, I hope. I'm not finishing the 3D print but using it as a master for my helmet cast.

I've got both the Anovos bucket and one of Jsin's newer helmets (arrived this past April). I do love the surface finish, and the more accurate alumaluster paint on the Jsin. But there's some pretty significant flaws including a really noticeable raised dimple around one of the temples. Plus, I do feel like this version is tad too short. My chin almost sticks out the bottom. BUT, for $300-$400 it is a great value and a decent entry custom helmet. Here's a comparison shot with Jsin's (left) and Anovos (right)

Here's that dimple. Drives me crazy, lol.

Awesome buckets!
I am in love with my Hasbro helmet. To me it looks just right. Added some weathering and I think I'll replace the visor but it's a really nice piece. It probably misses the weight that you get from fiberglass helmets but it's still really nice :)

After a long hiatus from costuming I've jumped back into the hobby earlier this year to start the groundwork on a mando. I've been spending a fair bit of time on the Din group on Facebook researching vendors and seeing a lot of awesome costumes like FoxHound1984. All of the aforementioned buckets have a lot of positives but I was curious about the fiberglass helmets on the market. Specifically Justin Branfuhr bucket. Does anyone here have any familiarity with his finished helmets they could give any thoughts on?
