I happen to have a bunch of dark brown fake leather vinyl. Time to start making an ammo belt. I decided the easiest way would be to print up some quick blocks.

About an hour for 1. The entire set took about 8, so I kicked it off at night, and in the morning I had 8 nice little boxes.

Made up a quick template for wrapping the box.

Printed it on card stock, cut it out and traced it on the vinyl, cut it out and glued it on to one of the boxes with some E6000.

I colored the edges that I thought could show with a black marker. I also made sure the top edges lined up with the top of the box.

That made the bottom a little bit longer, which is going to make those corners hide better later, as the vinyl wrapped around those corners just a little bit.

Made up all the cover strips, and sewed in the thread. I got better as I went along. The first few were a little rough.

Glued on one.

I used some brown shoe polish on the edges of the vinyl to make it look more like leather. I like how it turned out. Fairly happy with it. Now to make them all up.
