I am so sorry to hear about the ban being permanent.
Well if that's the case then I would think it's important for people to know that, yes, nearly over 3 years ago Sleepalot erroneously posted a helmet for sale on ebay that after speaking with Chris (aka Fettpride) about its origins realized his labeling mistake and ended the auction resulting in no one being "scammed".
And in regards to taking the commission work, members should probably be made aware of the facts that Sleepalot fully refunded that member's money after realizing he couldn't meet the agreed deadline, helped to scramble and find another painter, and even paid for shipping out of his pocket to get the parts to AFFo$ asap so that he could finish the work to meet the deadline. And according to the pics, everything seems to have worked out fine and the member's suit looked amazing just in time for C7.
So if that's the case, then it's unfortunate if false accusations compounded into Sleepalot being banned, along with being disgruntled about receiving damaged items from another member and realizing to late to allow PayPal to resolve the issue.
I don't know man, just doesn't seem fair.
I hope TDH members will continue to seek him (Sleepalot) out via Facebook because I really do believe this community was enhanced with his presence, especially his helpful painting and comparison threads.
I just realized that I was being involved in a discussion that I was completely unaware of...
To clarify your third party statement and hearsay, the original cost of shipping was paid in full by ME to the producer of the helmet that I had purchased. Arrangements were made to have the helmet shipped directly to sleepalot, so that he could follow through with his commission that I had already paid for in FULL up front; a time sensitive commission that he personally reached out to me to complete. I was unaware of his existence until he posted on my "seeking paint" thread on his own initiative, offering his services.
After the financial transaction took place, I sent several inquiries via PM regarding the progress of my helmet AND jet pack. My messages were met with vague and undefinitive responses. Almost a month's time later, I received a message from sleepalot stating my commission was bumped for another opportunity that he received AFTER our deal had been made. On top of that, he had not even started the prep work for my helmet during that time AND refused to sell me the jet pack (An item that should have been completely unaffected by the replacement commission. An item that he had the audacity to try to sell me later on for $100 more than he originally quoted me.). He could not even recall which helmet in his possession was mine, so that he could ship it back to me. The only shipping he paid was the refund that I was owed for shipping him the helmet in the first place. Not to mention, the total transaction equaled well over $1000 that had been absent from my pocket during this process.
In addition to these facts, I would like to point out that he had absolutely NOTHING to do with my dealings with Affo$; a superb painter that I would highly recommend to the TDH newcomer that created this thread. I question your definition of "scrambled" when all sleepalot did was name drop in a brief message (Information that is obvious to anyone with a search bar on the TDH page. Information I already had.). Not to mention, assisting others is the sole purpose of TDH and should not be viewed as some sort of extraordinary humanitarian act. The only effort put forth that I saw was damage control in nature. His posts in my threads, as I desperately searched for a replacement commission, were simple "apologies" and other general comments of the sort.
In short, just because my situation "worked out", does not mean it should reflect positively on sleeplot and his business. (Thank you for the compliment, though.)
And for the record, I never said a negative word regarding my dealings with "The Workshop" until this time, nor did I submit negative feedback to his account after what had transpired.
