Twelve more troops in 2023! Highlights included the Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL), the Columbus Crew (MLS), several troops at the Ohio Theatre, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and being on the local news for May the Fourth.
It’s been a while since I updated, but there were many more troops for me in 2019.
It’s been a great year, with Celebration, Weird Al, The Mandalorian, and Episode IX. I doubt I’ll see anything like it for a while.
This was a special one. My 20th official troop was on stage with Weird Al! I was extremely lucky to be able to join in, since they usually only have TK’s and a Vader, but there were a few drop-outs, so they brought me in.
Here we are heading onto the stage. I was the first one; a bit nerve...
Yesterday was one of our largest events, the annual Star Wars Night with the Columbus Clippers baseball team. I had to drop out of last year’s event, so I was happy to be involved this time. We had nearly 50 characters representing the 501st, Rebel Legion, Mando Mercs, and Droid Builders.

Two troops in one day! Not a great idea, but we had 36 events on May 4th throughout Ohio, so I did my part. First was our local community center’s family event. They made some great decorations!
Then I took off my jet pack, helmet, and codpiece and drove across town to the Historical Society...
I found a couple more shots. I like the angle on this one:
And this one was in the Chicago Tribune!
I forgot to mention that I upgraded my jet pack beacon with an aluminum shell from Machinecraft and jcfett’s light kit. I really love it, but it doesn’t show up in most pictures. You can just...
I didn’t get many pics in costume while at Celebration this year, but I was able to be in several group photos over the five days. Here’s the 501st Bounty Hunters Guild group shot and march to the convention (I’m in full view on the left):

(From the back: Greedo...
Is anyone putting an orange tip on their EE-3? Last celebration they did a quick weapon check and cleared it with a colored zip tie, but the rules seem more severe this time. I’m bringing my Sidewinder and I dont want to damage it, but I’d be happy to do something removable. Anyone have any ideas?
A couple of troops in 2019 so far:
Ohayocon
Dayton Children’s Hospital
I’ve been wishing I could troop more, but the timing hasn’t worked out. However, I’ll be at Celebration all five days and I have May 4th off from work, so I may be ready for a break at that point!
I'll be happy to sign up for a shift or two once event details are released. There's going to be a lot of things to juggle between my family, the convention schedule, and 501st stuff.
